I am a complete novice, grew up reading spiderman, but not to the point of remembering it today. I just saw the movie and really enjoyed it. I didn't think they got too unbelievable with the computer creations. My question is= Ok, he kills Osborn at the end. Is this in line with the original comics? If so, do I expect him to come back or his son to take over the family quest?

Yes Osborn was killed the same way in the comics.. It wasn't Spider-Man that killed him. It was Norman himself. Unbelievably Norman has shown up again. I guess the serum that made him the GG had healing properties to it. In the original comics his son did indeed carry on as the Green Goblin.
Later,
Kyle

Osborne is gone but he'll be back. In one guise or another, the Green Goblin/Hobgoblin character can't disappear.
Of course, The Joker was killed in the first BATMAN movie. And yet he has never died completely in sixty years of Batman books. Never.
