Hi, I read an article in the Orange County Register that implied Jack Kirby was the first to draw Spider-Man (or at least the first cover). So now I'm confused, because all of the movie hype has implied Ditko first drew Spidey. Did Kirby do covers and Ditko panels?

I believe Jack Kirby drew the issue of Amazing Fantasy #15 that Spidey premiered in.

Ditko did a cover, but Stan (IIRC) didn't like it, so Kirby did another cover - similar to Ditko's but from another angle, and that was the one used.
Ditko did all covers and internal art up to and including #38.
Having said that, I can remember a Torch/Spidey back-up story somewhere which Kirby did draw - maybe it was an early annual. I'll have to look now!!

Strange Tales Annual #2 featured an 18-page Torch/Spidey confrontation called 'On the Trail of the Amazing Spider-Man' with pencils by Kirby and inks by Ditko. And ASM #8 had a 6-page matchup with the same credits, later reprinted in ASM Annual #6. There was a six-page backup story (same credits) in FF Annual #1, also reprinted in ASM Annual #6.
