What is the main Spider-man series? Like, Batman's main series is at, like, 'Batman #704' and Superman's is 'Action Comic's Superman' and X-Men's 'The Uncanny X-Men'. What is Spider-man's because I want to start reading it and maybe 'Batman' as well. Also, can anyone fill me in on the current storyline and compare what the other books are about and what's different (e.g. What's the difference between 'Amazing' and 'Spectacular' and/or where could I find it on the internet. Lastly, are there any FAQ's on famous comic book characters on the net anywhere? Thanks generously in advance.

And also, what's the deal with the different books, are they totally different storylines and a way to have several stories at once. What are the differences and the current storylines?

Amazing is the first Spider-Man book, since 1962. The other main title, Peter Parkerpider-Man is as you put it 'a way to have several stories at once'. Ultimate Spider-Man is a completely alternate version of Spidey, younger, with no baggage to the past 40 years. It's extremely popular right now and available almost in its entirety in trade paperbacks so you wouldn't have to worry about finding back issues if you liked it enough. 'Tangled Web' is a random creative team having a look at different characters in Spider-Man's life, and not necesarily including him in the book each month. I would say Amazing or Ultimate would suit what you want.

Well, each book has its own storyline at present, but it's a good bet that from time to time there will be crossovers where one story is told across multiple titles (at least with ASM and PP, they wouldn't use USM for that because of its different timeline, and I dunno if they'd use Tangled Web either). And even though ASM and PP have their own stories at present, there will always be allusions made to what's going on/has been going on in the other book. For example, Spidey may fight the Green Goblin in PP, and then a couple issues later in ASM that fight will be mentioned in passing, or the thread of the Goblin story from PP will be picked up down the road in ASM.

Todd likes USM best of all, which is self-contained
