There should be a 'Bruce' playing in the series of Spiderman. Now I really really need to know what he was doing there....

I'm not sure that I understand the question, but here are two possible responses.
1.) In the Fox Spider-Man cartoon there was a gargoyle that Spidey would talk to from time-to-time. He called him Bruce. I always thought it might be a tip of the hat (or a poke at) Batman/Bruce Wayne. Just a thought.
2.)Bruce Campbell has a small role in the Spider-Man movie as the ring announcer at the wrestling match.
