Mary Jane and Peter -- Why?

I was under the impression that Spider-Man continuity was never reset and 'Spider-Man: Year One' was self-contained.

ASM #50 is suppose to resolve the seperation issue between them. Whether they finally patch things up remains to be seen.

Because comic writers cannot come up with new ideas and rather than develop Peter and MJ's marriage, they wanted to go back and rehash his single days.

Storywise, she couldn't deal with him being spider-man and being second in his life.

Basically MJ was taken off the plane right before take-off and it was destroyed to cover this up. She was taken by a previously unknown slightly crazed telepath with powers similar to rogues, in that during a fight, he touched spiderman and absorbed all his memories. Due to this, he knew everything about him and in a way became obsessed with how much better peters life was then his own, so he desired to take it over. In the end, he finally called peter to him so he could try and take him over, but it didnt work very well, cant remember exactly but i think he died, MJ was back, then immediately after she said 'well this whold kidnapping/feeding me through a doorslot/being abused by supervillians thing was fun but i really need a break'.

Frankly i cant blame her. Im enjoying spidy much more lately, especially since he told aunt may about spiderman, and the ultimate series is just incredible in art, story, and fun.

Call me sentimental, but I hope they get back together.

Personally, I'd like Gwen Stacy to be reintegrated to the story. MJ has always been a lame character.
