Hi everyone, Just found this group. I am an old-time Spidey fan, and am looking forward to some discussion. Hopefully things will pick up with the release of the movie. I haven't been actively following any of the current storylines.........anyone have a suggestion where to jump in with the current comics? In your opinion, which is the best read these days?

Cheers,

The old comics from the last century! Or the marvel books. (Novels.) But they are few in the last year. (I mean books not belonging to the movie.) By the way: Has everybody seen the new trailer? It's great! (Only the flagpole scene is a little 'strange'. If you look at it frame by frame it seems, Spidey is standing 'behind' the pole. The angles are a little false. But only a little bit.)

SPIDER-MAN had the following flash of brilliance:

That's a tough call. It looks great until they pan around the pole. They didn't do a good job with the roundness and it looks a little too square.

Like I'm going to sit in the theater on May 3 and nit pick. I'll do that on May 4.

Welcome! There isn't much going on in this place, but occasionally a good thread or two comes along.....

I like both Amazing and Ultimate SM right now myself. Each is done very differently from one another, but both are good in their own way.

Where can I download a high res keeper? The official site and the apple trailers site won't let me save it out of my temp folder. I have a slow connection and the time to get the big files. I just don't want to have to re-download it every time I want to see it.

That was the first thing I tried. There was no file on my entire C: drive containing the word 'spider' that I couldn't already account for. There was also another version of it that aired during CSI Thurday night. Is that one on the net anywhere?

jwalkerz had the following flash of brilliance:

Unfortunately, the newer versions of Quicktime DO NOT readily save the downloaded movies to your internet cache - especially if you're using IE 5.5 or 6.

You can buy quicktime and then 'Export' the movie to save it, but unless you work with it, it'll end up being over 100 MB in size...speaking from experience.

I'm not sure if the CSI/WWF Smackdown versions are on the net yet. I'm sure they will be soon enough, though.

As far as the 3/27 trailer, you'll have to explicitly save it as it won't automatically cache it. You can do this via a download manager, by owning QuickTime Pro 5, by checking the P2P systems like Morpheus or by cutting and pasting this (watch for line breaks):
http://a1568.g.akamai.net/5/1568/51/fdbdfdb3f5c3c3/ 1a1a1aaa2198c62797... 669d84574a8d80d3cb12453c02589f25382f668c9329e0375e8177a e955ca37990263920575d e42a71946b31482b1168ef15dd245ae2489/spiderman_fs1.mov

If that link doesn't work (I'm not sure if Apple changes it or not), you'll need to get to the screen that says 'Click here to play'. Somewhere within that frame, but outside of the 'Click here to play' box, right-click and 'View Source'. In the raw HTML, look for a link that contains 'spiderman_fs1.mov'. Cut and paste that into your browser window or download manager.

This seems very complicated. Why not just get the MPEG trailers from Movie-List?
http://www.movie-list.com/s/spider-man.shtml Right-click and choose 'Save as'.

Unless you're talking about some other trailers.

No, but third-party host sites tend to be hit or miss. It certainly can be found via Morpheus, or spidermanhype.com or a site like you mentioned, but I figured I'd keep it to the 'sure things'.

This particular trailer was easy to save, for some reason...it's usually a bigger pain to grab the new format...
