SPOILERS AHEAD....

I liked the movie but had some questions about it compared to the comics.

First off, could Spiderman have been able to hold on to that entire cable car filled with people? The cable car alone had to weigh a couple of tons, plus all the people. That seems more like Superman or (since we are talking Marvel) Hulk strength????

Second, I see how he could climb walls using his finger tips because of the little barbs that came out of them. But what about his feet? Wasn't he wearing shoes? Even if not with his new costume, he certainly was when he first discovered his powers and when he was chasing Ben's killer.

Third, when he rescued the baby from the burning building, what was that police officer going to arrest him for? Just because a newspaper writes something doesn't mean you can get arrested. WHat would have been the charge?

Spidey is fairly strong. I believe he is supposed to be able to lift 10 tons.

Spiderman in comic books was always strong (could lift 10 tons by Marvel Universe entry). It all came down to how much the webline could hold (not as much we see)

If you watch closely he never has both hands off the wall (except during his leaps) while wearing shoes. Because of his strength he can pull himslef along the walls with oly his hands with little effort

Vigilante activities. Assault. Unlawful Imprisonment. Littering (leftover

Hulk is Class 100+ meaning he almost has no limit. Spidey is Class 10. He can lift 10 tons, but I don't think his webbing would hold that much- unless he used alot of it.

He climbed with both hands and feet. Spidey can hang from a ceiling by one finger. He shouldn't have any difficulty climbing up the side of a building with just his hands.

In the comics, Spidey's costume was designed so that he could use either his hands or his feet to attach to a ceiling or wall.

Vigilantism is something the police always frown upon- regardless of good intentions.

About Spidey's clinging ability in the movie. Where was it shown that it was just his finger/hands were the only places with the barbs? I think in the movies case he probably has them over most of his body. That way he can cling with just his feet. I also think the barbs length depends on how long they need to be to work. So if his hands and feet are covered by the costume they still get long enough to cling to whatever he's hanging off of.

Well, I would assume that only his appendages would have them since spiders don't walk on their head or their ass.

Sounds logical. Spidey might have them on other parts of his legs- other than the feet. IIRC, in the comics, Spidey's sticking ability is attributed to some sort of field he generates around his body which implies he could stick to something with _any_ part of his body. That would be awkward under certain circumstances.

Spidey's costume is porous. It's designed to allow him to use both hands and feet to cling to surfaces.

That's the real reason he told Mary Jane that they should just be friends.

The barbs, to my recollection, were used in Spider-man 2099.

Also remember that in the movie, the fork/spoon clunk to the palm of his hand. But the eating utensil is s smooth, non-porous material. How could barbs hold it.

On 30 May 2002, Lilith appeared before the congregation in 'alt.comics.spider-man' assembled, and proclaimed:

The concepts from Spider-Man 2099 (organic webshooters, spider barbs like a real spider as opposed to static cling) obviously were incorporated into the movie.

Spiders cling to walls using pads of hair called scopulae on the ends of their feet. The hairs provide enough adhesion to keep the spider from falling off of the wall.

As for the eating utensil not sticking because it's non- porous....ever seen a spider walk up a pane of glass?

But, I don't care how many hairs Peter Parker has coming out of the palms of his hands, his weight-to-volume ratio is too great for him to be able to climb walls.

I still liked the movie, though.

That was webbing, didn't you see the stuff clinging to the utensil when he pulled it away? I thought it was pretty obvious, he triggered his webbing accidently by the pressure of the fork

And by the way in the comic series ONLY his fingertips, palms, toe-tips and pad of his feet had the 'sticking' ability.
