Hey- New to this group. I took my kids to see the movie this afternoon. I took them out of school and we went to the 1pm show (am I a cool mom or what?) We thought it was teriffic, I read the comics as a kid and I dont care if it followed the story or not. My 3 boys were waiting for 2 years to see this picture and my husband saw many scenes filmed (he works in Manhattan). I was wondering if someone can tell me...how did Peter Parker's parents die?

Short answer: Plane crash when he was very young (as already mentioned)

Long answer: They actually worked for some covert opertation and went 'missing'. THey showed up again in the mid 1990s and, of course, but they turned out to be robots. Talk about getting confusing.

I thought all that stuff was created by Chameleon as part of the whole robot plot? So they were in fact 'secret agents'?

I thought it turned out that they were, but that they had actually died in the plane crash. I could be wrong. My knowledge of Spidey from the 1990s is spotty.

Amazing Spider-man Annual #5 covered the story originally. I can't remember much about the story though except Spidey was battling the Red Skull which I think was not the original Red Skull but the one who took his place during the 1950s. Basically it explained that they were secret agents and there was a question as to whether they had betraid the United States but in the end I believe Peter found out they did indeed stay loyal to their country before they perished. Anyone have this comic handy to confirm. Also I know there was a story done a few years back about Peter's Parents in one of the minus one issues but I don't remember which Spiderman title it was.
